Charlie Company 2016 Memorial for our Brother Oren L. Crook

SPC 4 Oren Crook died March 6, 1970.

The memorial team made up of John Fowler, Roland Christiansen, Glenn Green, Glenn Shuman, Ronny Middlebrook and Gary Gilliam drove north 2 hours from Batesville AR to Doniphan MO to hold a memorial for the family of Oren Crook.  There were over 25 attending included his Aunt, Brothers Bob and James Crook, and other family members and friends.  As in the past we had the opening prayer followed by the introduction of the Charlie Company Veterans and laying our coins on Oren's tombstone. _Roland told of the time we served around the Ripcord AO and the many brothers that were lost leading up to the Seige at Firebase Ripcord. Roland Christiansen then read the inscription and presented the plaque to James and Bob, the brothers of Oren. Ronny Middlebrook presented the Eagle emblem to Oren's brothers. Poems were again shared by Gary and Glenn Shuman.  SGT Chris called Charlie Company to attention to offer our final honors of Taps. ________________________________________________________________________________________
Following the memorial the men and their wives went to Big D's BBQ and visited while we discussed an amazing day of rememberance.

We want to thank all those who drove great distances; John Fowler who lives at Nashville TN, Ronny and Nancy Middlebrook lives in Bartlet TN, Glenn and Clara Green from Puxico MO, Roland and Pam Christiansen from Barnett MO, Jerry and Laura Minahan lives in Russellville AR, Gary and Debbie Gilliam from Potosi MO, for attending these memorials; you made an impact on the families of those we call brother. We can't for get our dear brother Glenn Shuman who has logged over 5600 miles traveling to take part in the memorials.

We also Thank Glenn and Denise Shuman for making the crosses used in these ceremonies, along with the Never Forgotten/Brothers Forever graveside placards.

Gary Gilliam
